Administrator
Simon Bovinett has served as the Fellowship's part-time Administrator since 1999. A long-time Montgomery resident, he holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from Auburn University at Montgomery, where he also taught photography as an Adjunct Instructor.
From 1984 to 1988, he was employed as the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's first Publications Director. In 1988 he accepted a community outreach position with Lighthouse Counseling Center, Inc., a non-profit, multi-service counseling agency, and held numerous management positions before retiring as Deputy Director in 1995. He was a co-founder (in 1987) of Montgomery AIDS Outreach, Inc. and served as its second Board President, and founded and (for several years) coordinated the community’s annual World AIDS Day observance.
He served as Executive Secretary of the Alabama AIDS Symposium Committee from 1996 to 1999 and is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery (Class IX). He was a longtime member of New Hope Metropolitan Community Church, where he received their first "Faithful Heart Award" in 1999, and he is currently a member of the Unity United Church of Christ.
Director of Religious Education
Courtney McKenny joined the staff of the Fellowship in July 2006. She is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. She also completed the majority of her coursework leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
Courtney served as the Chair of the Religious Education Committee at UUFM for one year prior to her appointment as DRE. She also worked as a one-on-one paraprofessional with special needs children in the Spring Hill (KS) School District.
Courtney and her husband Brian are the parents of three children.
